Respond to engine alarms

In order to satisfy NVIC 17-14 Task 7.5.A , MMA students must:

STCW Competence

Knowledge, Understanding, and Proficiency

Maintenance and repair of electrical and electronic equipment

OICEW-B2.5 Function and performance tests of the following equipment:

.1 Monitoring systems

.2 Automatic control devices

.3 Protective devices

Condition	Behavior	Standard
On a vessel of at least 1,000 HP, or in a laboratory or workshop,	The candidate responds to and clears at least two alarms from the engine control monitoring system. All The assessment is required for all OICEW endorsements regardless of any limitations for propulsion mode and/or vessel equipment.	The candidate: Fills bilge well to test high bilge water alarm and pumps out well to clear alarm; Uses smoke test gear to test two fire alarm sensors and clears out smoke and reset alarm. Takes proper action to prevent safety and pollution violations.
