Shut down oil purifier

In order to satisfy NVIC 17-14 Task 4.3.S , MMA students must:

Successfully complete MMA Assessment OICEW-5-1I Shut down fuel oil or lube oil purifier

STCW Competence

Knowledge, Understanding, and Proficiency

Operate main and auxiliary machinery and associated control systems

OICEW-A4.3 Preparation, operation, fault detection and necessary measures to prevent damage for the following machinery items and control systems

Auxiliary prime movers and associated systems

Condition	Behavior	Standard
On a vessel of at least 1,000 HP, on a in a laboratory,	the candidate plans for and secures a lube oil or fuel oil purifier, describing actions as they are being performed. All The assessment is required for all OICEW endorsements regardless of any limitations for propulsion mode and/or vessel equipment.	The candidate: “Shoots” the purifier from the control panel several times to discharge loose sludge; Secures steam or power to oil centrifuge pre-heater, if used; Closes oil supply to centrifuge; Depresses centrifuge motor controller stop button; Verifies centrifuge has come to a complete stop and closes clean oil discharge valve; and Secures power and valves to the automatic “shoot” panel.
