Determine course to steer by magnetic compass

Condition

On a ship underway or a full mission ship simulator, and given a deviation table.

Performance requirement

Behavior Standard
The student will: During assessment, the student shall, at a minimum:

Apply the compass error to the course by magnetic compass to make good the intended true course.
  1. Compass error is correctly applied to the magnetic course.
  2. The solution is ± 2° of the assessor’s solution.

Note: This assessment supports KUP OICNW-A1.07, and is assessed in MT-2121 Deep Sea Navigation.
