Marlinspike seamanship - knots I

On board ship or in a laboratory.

Performance requirement

Behavior Standard
The student will: During assessment, the student shall, at a minimum:

demonstrate marlinspike seamanship skills by tying various knots.

tie these four knots within 10 minutes:

  • Bowline;
  • Square knot;
  • Clove hitch;
  • Sheet bend;

Assessed in MT‑1111 Vessel Familiarization and Basic Safety Training.
