When asked on a written examination to identify and describe the types of lifesaving appliances carried on ships,

the candidate identifies and describes (or selects the answer that identifies and describes) the types of lifesaving appliances carried on ships.


The candidate identifies and describes (or selects the answer that identifies and describes) life saving appliances such as:

  1. Lifejackets;
  2. Ring buoys;
  3. Water lights;
  4. Lifeboats, life rafts, or rescue boats;
  5. Immersion suits;
  6. Thermal protective aids;
  7. SARTs;
  8. EPIRBs; and
  9. Other emergency signaling devices.
