Use of GPS position save function

In order to satisfy NVIC 12-14 Task 1.4.D , MMA students must:

STCW Competence

Knowledge, Understanding, and Proficiency

Plan and conduct a passage and determine position

OICNW-A1.04 Electronic systems of position fixing and navigation

Ability to determine the ship’s position by use of electronic navigational aids

Condition	Behavior	Standard
On a vessel, on a simulator, or in a navigation laboratory, using a GPS receiver meeting IMO performance standards, when hearing “Man Overboard,”	the candidate activates the man overboard/ emergency position save function.	The candidate saves or records the ship’s position within 1 minute of hearing “Man Overboard.”
