Ability to organize abandon ship drills and knowledge of the operation of survival craft and rescue boats, their launching appliances and arrangements, and their equipment, including radio life-saving appliances, satellite EPIRBs, SARTs, immersion suits and thermal protective aids

Condition Behavior Standard

All Course The assessment is required for all OICEW endorsements regardless of any limitations for propulsion mode and/or vessel equipment.

The candidate demonstrates the KUP by successfully completing a Coast Guard approved or accepted course.

This KUP is demonstrated by successfully completing approved or accepted training for either Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats, other than Fast Rescue Boats or Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats, other than Lifeboats and Fast Rescue Boats or by holding an endorsement for PSC or PSC-Limited.
