ABE Task 10.3.A

Mechanical safety

In order to satisfy NVIC 18-14 Task 10.3.A , MMA students must:

STCW Competence	Knowledge, Understanding, and Proficiency
Apply occupational health and safety precautions	ABE-C4.1 Working knowledge of safe working practices and personal shipboard safety including mechanical safety

On a vessel or in a laboratory or workshop, given the indicated equipment,	the candidate demonstrates knowledge of mechanical safety.	The candidate identifies mechanical hazards and explains safe working practices for: Portable tools Hand tools Rotating machinery Galley equipment; and Cargo securing gear.
