Despite the cold rain and overcast skies, visions of palm trees and sunny beaches danced across the faces of the cadets loading the Empire State today. Five big trailer trucks waited in line for the class of 2005 to quickly empty them of food and galley supplies. Although the freshman class had only just seen the ship the day before, under the supervision of the Cadet Officers they worked like trained stevedores and made short work of the day's loading schedule. More trucks will come tomorrow... and the day after... and the day after. To feed and train over 500 young people for more than 50 days and nights takes a lot of stuff!
