The candidate performs a steering gear test. All The assessment is required for all OICEW endorsements regardless of any limitations for propulsion mode and/or vessel equipment. |
The candidate performs either A or B: A) Rudder-equipped vessel
B) Z-Drive equipped vessel Using each available steering pump, rotate the Z Drive unit in a 360-degree rotation within a period specified by the manufacturer; from the ships wheel/joystick, non-follow up switches and local manual control devices. |
MMA Method
In order to satisfy NVIC 17-14 Task 7.5.B , MMA students must:
- Successfully complete MMA Assessment OICEW-5-1A Test steering gear and internal communications
