ABD-C3.1 Knowledge of the precautions to be taken to prevent pollution of the marine environment

On board ship or in a laboratory, when questioned by a Qualified Assessor,

the candidate describes the precautions to be taken to prevent pollution of the marine environment.

The candidate’s description includes:

1. Collection, sorting by type, storage of garbage on board;
2. Deck preparations for preventing or controlling pollutants due to the transfer of cargo, fuel, or passengers;
3. Transferring garbage ashore for disposal; and
4. Making rounds of areas that are under the responsibility of the deck department for pollution prevention and control.
