ABD-A2.2 Working knowledge of the procedures and order of events associated with mooring to a buoy or buoys

Condition Behavior Standard

On board ship, or in a laboratory, when questioned by a Qualified Assessor,

the candidate describes the procedures and order of events associated with mooring to a buoy or buoys.


The candidate’s description includes:

  1. Procedures when using the anchor chain;
  2. Procedures when using a special heavy wire rope;
  3. Use of messengers;
  4. Use of slip ropes; and
  5. Particular hazards associated with mooring to a buoy.

NOTE: Particular attention should be paid to the use of safety equipment and precautions to minimize the risk of injury.
