Take charge of a survival craft or rescue boat during and after launch

Condition Behavior Standard

Using a rescue boat properly stowed on a single-arm davit, mounted on a pier or a ship, when hearing an order in English to lower the rescue boat,

the candidate, acting as a member of the launch crew, prepares and launches a rescue boat.* *Candidates should be rotated through all assigned tasks to determine if they have achieved competence.


LTD

The assessment is only for an endorsement as PSC-Limited.

When ordered, the candidate correctly performs the following tasks:

  1. Ready the rescue boat for launch;
  2. Pass and secure the sea painter and control lines (if fitted);
  3. Lower the outdrive;
  4. Position the rescue boat at the embarkation site; and
  5. Lower the boat on command.

MMA Method

In order to satisfy NVIC 04-14 Task 1.7.A , MMA students must:

  • Pass MMA Course MT‑1111 Vessel Familiarization and Basic Safety Training
