Condition Behavior Standard

While in the water, wearing either a lifejacket or an immersion suit,

the candidate rights an inverted inflatable life raft rated for 6 persons or more.


Note 1

Indicates a BT revalidation component to be demonstrated in Coast Guard approved training. See Enclosure (1), paragraph 2 (b)

Within 10 minutes the candidate successfully completes all of the following:

  1. Swim to side with CO2 bottle;
  2. Climb aboard;
  3. Grab righting straps on side opposite CO2 bottle;
  4. Stand on or straddle bottle;
  5. Lean back holding onto righting straps and right raft; and
  6. Swim clear of raft.

MMA Method

In order to satisfy NVIC 08-14 Task 1.14.E , MMA students must:

  • Pass MMA Course PS‑0301 4/C STCW Personal Survival
  • Successfully complete MMA Assessment SCRB-1 Right an inverted lifefraft
