Condition
On a vessel or in a laboratory, given the UTC, azimuth bearing of body, assumed position, appropriate tables and almanac.
Behavior
Determine gyro compass error from celestial body.
Standard
- The true azimuth of the body for the time of the reading is determined.
- The gyrocompass azimuth is compared to the true azimuth and the gyro error is determined.
- The solution is ± 0.5° of the assessor’s solution.
