Condition
On a ship underway or a full mission ship simulator, with both a magnetic and gyrocompass.
Behavior
Determine the magnetic compass error.
Standard
- The magnetic heading is compared to the corrected gyro heading (corrected for a known gyro error).
- The magnetic compass error is determined and properly labeled.
- The solution is ± 1° of the assessor’s solution.
- The error is correctly recorded in the compass record book.
