Condition
Aboard ship or in a suitable engine room simulator, given appropriate alarms.
Behavior
Upon hearing each of the following engine room alarms, the candidate will name the alarm, acknowledge the alarm, confirm the condition indicated by the alarm and take appropriate action to correct the alarm condition:
- Lowlubrication oil pressure alarm;
- Low jacket water pressure alarm;
- High lubrication oil temperature alarm;
- General alarm;
- Mist detector.
Standard
- Correctly identifies each alarm;
- Correctly acknowledges each alarm;
- Correctly confirms each alarm condition;
- Timely action is taken to correct each indicated alarm condition;
- Alarm is cleared when corrective actions are taken;
- No safety or environmental violations are observed.
