  4. duties associated with handing over a watch

Condition

Aboard ship, having a main propulsion machinery of 750 kW or more, while underway in engine room.

Behavior

Conduct an inspection of machinery spaces before taking the engine room watch.

Standard

  1. Status or condition of main and auxiliary machinery (including fuel, feed water, and exhaust systems), control systems, indicating panels and communication systems is correctly determined, described and reported ;
  2. The status and condition of the steering system and all associated gear is determined, described, and reported;
  3. The condition of the bilges with respect to water level and contamination is determined, described, and reported.
  4. No safety violations are observed.
