Captain's Log:

The Patriot Sate is taking on fuel at Fort Rodman, Panama. The heat and humidity that has tagged along with the ship remains. The air temperature is a sizzling 92 degrees, with the humidity hitting 99 percent.

While at Fort Rodman our cadets will be engaged in the normal workday and training routine. We are scheduled to leave port tomorrow morning at 0800...and complete our transit of the Panama Canal.

This Monday, we arrive at Lee Stocking Island, Bahamas. One of the 700 islands that make up the Bahamian chain. This particular island is privately owned, and is located in the Exuma Cays, which is a sparsely populated region of the Bahamas.

Lee Stocking Island affords unique access to a variety of marine environments free of most pollution and fishing pressures. There is a commercial-scale aquaculture hatchery on the island, where access to an abundance of indigenous finfish species and high quality seawater makes the Island an ideal location for marine finfish aquaculture research.

You can bet our Marine Safety and Environmental Protection cadets will enjoy this port...and the diving is some of the best you'll find in the Bahamas. In fact, visibility commonly reaches 100 feet.
